The Moving Meditation School of Tai Chi and Qigong was established and registered in 1994 by Rosemary Palmer and is located in the southern suburbs of Adelaide. Our primary focus is on improving the health and well-being of our members, however the martial application of movements is shown if it helps with the understanding of the movement's function. All teachers are professionally trained and enjoy sharing their Tai Chi skill and knowledge in a safe, effective and friendly environment.
What is Tai Chi? Tai Chi is an exercise art based upon the Chinese concept of Yin and Yang, balance and harmony. The movements are characterised by their soft, yielding quality and by a continuous flowing of energy. Visually Tai Chi resembles an effortless dance, but in reality every movement is precise and performed with internal strength. The principles of Tai Chi are similar to those of other martial arts which emphasise self defence. However, the Tai Chi exercise is also practised alone for the purposes of health and meditation. It is played in slow motion and is accompanied by deep and rhythmic breathing. |

Our Beginner's Course, Tai Chi Qigong, teaches correct breathing techniques, the importance of posture, movement flow and mindfulness. The beginners' sequence of 18 techniques is easy to learn and suitable for most people. It consists of gentle stretching and relaxing movements, which are performed slowly and smoothly and guided by the breath. The art of visualisation is encouraged as it is an excellent tool for meditation as well as relaxation.
In class, each student will interpret the movements differently as a greater sense of awareness of body and mind is developed. However, as a group, with regular practise together, the energy and flow of movement will be as one, like the ocean. The benefits gained from practising Tai Chi and Qigong include:
